Veterinary Surgery
Your pet is in safe hands with our skilled surgical team.
Our experienced veterinary surgeons and nurses work as a team to carry out surgical procedures.
At our practice in Mildenhall, we have modern facilities and equipment for providing surgical treatment whenever it is needed. Our highly-experienced veterinary surgeons and nurses work as a team to safely carry out surgical procedures, from routine neutering to emergency surgeries, or more complex soft-tissue or orthopaedic procedures.
Upon admission to our wards, our trained veterinary nursing team will ensure your pet is calm and settled prior to their procedure, including ensuring they have any pre-medication required. Pets are monitored throughout their anaesthetic and during recovery. We’ll let you know how your pet is doing after their procedure and give you a time when we are happy that they are ready to go home. We understand this can be anxious time for you and will always try to ensure you receive regular updates.
Every care is taken during surgery. We use sophisticated equipment during anaesthesia including blood pressure and ECG to check heart function and pulse oximeters to check oxygen levels. If intravenous fluids are required, a special pump is used to check the rate of infusion and that the ideal amount is given. Very young, old, small, or vulnerable patients can be prone to low body temperature during surgery, so we also use specially heated surgical tables to ensure they are properly supported.
If your pet needs a surgical procedure, our veterinary team will discuss it with you in full, including what care your pet will need at home afterwards, as well as detailing the costs involved. Do talk to us if you have questions or concerns at any point.
